A Level Biology

“Why should I study Biology?”

Genetic engineering, cloning, disease, and the environment; these exciting issues are always in the news. You will be able to join the debate with informed opinions and may help shape the future of mankind.

You will understand more of what goes on inside your body, other living organisms, the interactions between all living things and the changing environment. A qualification in biology can be used to gain entry into a wide variety of interesting careers, both within and related to scientific fields e.g. bio-medical courses, nursing, physiotherapy, forensic research and lab work.
It is strongly recommended that students with aspirations for careers in biology should also consider chemistry to at least AS level; and some courses require this.

“Extra-Curricular Opportunities”

Students are also given the opportunity to attend a residential field trip to support their practical skills in the ‘populations and environment’ section of the A2 course.
