Ski Trip 2018

Following last year’s incredibly successful ski trip, this year, we organised another ski trip for February 2018.

This skiing adventure to the French resort of Grandvalira, took place during February half term 2018; Saturday 10th February 2018 – Saturday 18th February 2018.

Students and staff travelled by coach from Southfield to Dover, crossing to Calais and then onwards to Grandvalira, Andorra.

The resorts of Soldeu, El Tarter and Pas de la Casa have merged to create the largest ski area in the country: Grandvalira.

Grandvalira is now one of the world’s 30 biggest ski resorts with more than 200km of piste and the first resort outside the Alps to officially offer more than 200km of ski runs, moving it into the global big league.

Its 66 lifts, which include 20 high-speed detachable quad and six-seater chairlifts, along with three gondolas, give a combined uplift of more than 100,000 skiers per hour – a combination of speed and capacity matched by less than a dozen resorts worldwide.

The Panorama Hotel in the village of Encamp was home for the week, not far from the “Ski-bus” stop (which takes skiers free of charge to the “Funicamp” funicular that connects with the Grandvalira ski resort).

After fun filled days of skiing, entertainment in the evenings included bowling, a movie night and the dreaded Karaoke!  See below for our photo gallery.

Over the half term I went on the school’s ski trip to Andorra.  We had 6 days of amazing ski lessons and some fun activities in the evenings, such as bowling, shopping and a movie night.

This was my first time skiing and I really enjoyed it.  I would definitely like to go again next year!

It was a great opportunity and we were all able to make lots more friends and fun memories.

All of the teachers and helpers made it such an enjoyable and fun experience.  Farah. C

During the February half term holiday, I went skiing with the school to Andorra.

This was my second ski trip with the school and I’ve had an amazing experience both times.  The best part of this year’s trip was being on the slopes and being able to view the whole of Andorra.

I made lots of new friends, from different year groups, which made the trip even better.

Each evening we had different activities to enjoy, which included bowling, a movie night, shopping, chilling and going out for pancakes on Shrove Tuesday!

The journey to Andorra seemed to go very quickly, even though it took 25 hours, but it was definitely worth it.

The staff helped us if we needed it and they laughed both with us and at us!

It was a fantastic week and I would definitely recommend it.  I would definitely like to go again.  Georgia. N
