Southfield School is an excellent girls’ school with a vibrant mixed Sixth Form. With a progress 8 score of 0.710, the school sits in the top 5% of schools in the country. The Mathematics Department year on year achieves outstanding results, well above the national average. The majority of our Sixth Form secure places at Russell Group Universities.

This successful department is a friendly, hard-working team, committed to stimulating students’ interest and enjoyment in their studies in addition to producing outstanding examination results. In 2017 year 11 students achieved 79% 9-4 grades at GCSE, well above the national average for girls as well as above their targets. Students’ progress in mathematics is also excellent, contributing to the school’s progress 8 figure.

The last two Ofsted reports have commented that “The teaching of mathematics in the sixth form is outstanding” and that “teaching in mathematics is a strength of the school”. They also reported that inspectors were impressed by our students. They “demonstrate very positive attitudes towards their learning” and are “proud of their school and take pride in their work”. “Poor behaviour across the school is rare”. We would recommend that you come and visit us during a working day and we are confident that you would be impressed.

The school has a key focus on staff wellbeing and has numerous initiatives in place to support this. They include time for planning off-site, fitness clubs, yoga sessions and many more. These initiatives are driven by a wellbeing group made up of staff members of varied experience.

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and innovative committed teacher. The successful candidate will be able to teach both key stages 3 & 4 and A Level teaching may also be available for the right candidate. Although the vacancy is available from September 2018, we are willing to employ you from Easter 2018 if you are the right candidate.
