Reporting Absences to Parents/Carers – Keep Kids Safe Update
Monitoring attendance is an essential part of our safeguarding responsibilities as a school and we are keen to ensure that you receive alerts as soon as possible if your child is found to be absent from school. With this in mind, we’d like to inform you of some changes we have made to our communication systems.
In order to make sure you receive alerts as soon as possible after the close of morning registration, parents/carers of all students identified as absent in our preliminary checks of class registers and recorded lates will now be sent a revised text alert. Please note: at this time, we will still be checking through phone messages and so if you have already reported your child’s absence in this way, you will not need to take any further action.
All absences deemed to be ‘unexplained’ by 9 am will be sent the following text message:
Our initial check of attendance has identified your child as absent from school today. If you have not already contacted us to advise of a reason for absence, please do so as a matter of urgency on 01536513063. Thank you.
If the school does not receive a reason for absence within an hour of sending this alert, a follow up message will be sent and a phone call made to the nominated Primary Contact.
This means that it is vitally important that we have your correct / preferred contact numbers.
If you would like to update your contact information or make any amendments, please contact our data and admissions team. firstname.lastname@example.org
This update will take effect from Monday 15 May 2017.
If in the meantime you have any questions, please contact Mrs Janet Goodliffe, Assistant Headteacher email@example.com
